Architecture Intelligence & Contract Discovery
Xero · UK Payroll
March 2025 – present
Within Xero's UK Payroll programme, I work on distributed systems, APIs, events and developer experience across multiple engineering domains.
I build tooling that makes system contracts and dependencies easier to understand: OpenAPI and AsyncAPI generation from source code and contracts, dependency graphing, consumer identification and blast-radius analysis. MCP-based tooling supports architecture discovery and AI-assisted engineering workflows using GitHub Copilot and Claude Code. Contract discovery and dependency analysis help identify potentially breaking changes, including those introduced by AI coding agents.
I design and deliver distributed backend services using C# and .NET in Kubernetes-based cloud environments, supported by Docker and GitHub Actions.
I have led the API and Events working group spanning six teams and around 40 engineers, establishing shared API and event standards and providing a forum for architectural discussions and cross-team coordination. The tooling helps engineers discover contracts, identify dependencies and assess the potential impact of changes.
Secure Evidence Submission Platform

I co-founded Send Evidence, a secure evidence submission platform for policing and investigative workflows. My contribution spanned technical strategy, software architecture, cloud infrastructure and product engineering.
The platform uses Microsoft Azure, multi-tenant architecture, API integrations and event-driven workflows to support public-facing evidence submission. I built event-driven processing pipelines, secure REST APIs and background services using Azure Functions, Azure Service Bus, Azure Storage and SQL Server, with auditability and operational reliability built into the design.
The platform is operational and generates recurring revenue. Building it meant balancing the needs of people submitting evidence, the teams handling it and the practical demands of operating a SaaS business.
Cash Intake & Allocation
Sonovate
February 2022 – November 2023
I led the design and evolution of systems processing and allocating high-volume inbound payments across customer accounts, supporting millions of pounds in daily cash flow.
Working with engineering and Accounts Receivable teams, I designed event-driven workflows and resilient backend services for accurate, auditable financial processing. The automated cash collection and allocation system reduced allocation time from 48 hours to one minute.
Alongside delivery, I mentored engineers and helped establish architectural consistency, engineering quality and technical standards for operationally critical financial systems.
Invoice Finance & Factoring Platform
Sonovate
August 2021 – February 2022
I developed backend services, APIs and distributed workflows within Sonovate's invoice finance and factoring platform, helping evolve core services towards an event-driven architecture.
The work supported operational finance processes with time-sensitive processing requirements. I collaborated with engineering and operational teams on service design, scalability, reliability and auditability as the platform evolved.
Criminal Justice Solicitor Portal
Avon and Somerset Police

I led development of a secure solicitor self-service portal for the criminal justice department, working with operational stakeholders to understand custody and case-related information workflows.
The portal improved access to information and reduced operational overhead and manual communication. I received a formal written commendation from the Head of Criminal Justice recognising my contributions to criminal justice technology and operational policing systems.
Contingency Planning & Critical Incident Systems

I led architecture and development for systems used by contingency planning teams supporting critical incidents, major operations and counter-terrorism related workflows.
The work required secure, resilient and auditable software aligned with operational policing needs. I coordinated technical direction, engineering delivery and stakeholder collaboration across concurrent projects, and introduced Azure DevOps practices to support software delivery.
Anonymous Reporting & Professional Standards

I designed and delivered secure communication platforms for anonymous whistleblowing and professional standards workflows, enabling officers to report concerns through confidential channels.
The work combined software architecture, secure communication design and collaboration with policing stakeholders in an operationally sensitive environment.
Agricultural Operations Platforms

I founded and operated a software consultancy while based in Budapest, delivering bespoke software for UK agriculture and agri-tech clients.
I worked directly with clients to turn operational requirements into systems for field operations, supplier management and business process automation. My responsibilities covered architecture, development, backend services, REST APIs, integrations, cloud hosting on Microsoft Azure and AWS, and deployment.
Running the consultancy gave me ownership of both engineering and client delivery, including the long-term maintenance and evolution of production systems.

I designed and developed an agrochemical ordering system that integrated with third-party platforms, connecting procurement workflows with external suppliers and services.
The work brought ordering and integration into a single system, supporting business process automation across organisational boundaries.
Nutrient Planning

I designed and developed a nutrient planning system aligned with RB209 guidance, translating crop nutrition requirements into practical software for farmers and agronomists.
The project combined agricultural requirements, backend development and API design to support crop nutrition planning workflows.
Greenlight Grower Management

I worked on grower management platforms used by agronomists and field teams, with responsibilities across technical architecture and development management.
I led the re-engineering of SQL-based synchronisation towards an event-sourced architecture for distributed, intermittently connected clients. The work reduced synchronisation from hours or days to near real time, supporting more responsive field operations.
